A man died early Friday morning after he was shot in Bailey’s Crossroads, according to Fairfax County police.

Around 3 a.m., the Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) said officers arrived in the 6000 block of Argyle Drive and found a shooting victim.

The man was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police said their preliminary investigation reveals that the involved individuals appear to be known to each other and was not a random act.

Man found fatally shot in MGM National Harbor parking lot

OXON HILL, Md. — Prince Georges County Police Department responded to a reported shooting call around 4:50 a.m. Saturday.

The shooting took place at 100 block of MGM National Harbor Avenue. News4 was able to confirm the tragedy took place at the complex’s garage.

On the scene, Police determined the adult male was “suffering from gunshot wounds.” Subsequently, the man was pronounced dead, said Police.

Police stated the identity of the male victim will be released after his family is notified.

Police are investigating who the suspect is. Additionally, officers declared “the suspect shot the victim during a dispute.”

FIRST ALERT TRAFFIC: Downed trees, lightning strike cause road closures in Kershaw County

KERSHAW COUNTY, S.C.  – The strong gusty storms that swept the Midlands Thursday morning have impacted roads in Kershaw County.

The town of Elgin said a stretch of Smyrna Road was closed Thursday morning due to a water main break.

The Kershaw County Fire Service (KCFS) said Smyrna Road is closed between Church Street and Nature Lane. It is unclear how long repairs will take.

The water main line was struck by lightning during storms that occurred between 2:30 a.m. to 5:30 a.m.

Officials said the water main is 10 inches, and they hope to have water restored by 12 p.m.

Several downed trees have also caused road closures across the county. These closures include:

  • 348 Lachicotte Road in Lugoff
  • 1475 Boykin Road in Rembert
  • Sumter Highway in Rembert
  • 1351 Flat Rock Road in Camden
  • Smyrna Road / Ashley Creek Drive in Elgin

DALTON, Ga. — Heavy rains triggered severe flooding, prompting the evacuation of an apartment complex on Fourth Avenue in Dalton in the early hours of Thursday.

At 12:31 a.m., 11Alive Reporter Cody Alcorn reported on the rising waters in Dalton, providing real-time updates on X, formally known as Twitter. Within minutes, the situation escalated as the flooding intensified.

Speaking with authorities, the fire department said it was grappling with an exceptionally busy night, stretched thin by the deluge of emergency calls flooding in from across the area.

1 dead, another hospitalized after morning business fire in Carmel

CARMEL, Ind. — One person was found dead, another was seriously injured and a firefighter suffered minor injuries in a fire at a Carmel strip mall early Thursday.

Around 3:15 a.m. May 9, Carmel Police Department officers responded to a welfare check in the 9800 block of North Michigan Road, just north of West 96th Street. Officers arrived and found a female in the street yelling for help and severely burned, Carmel Fire Department spokesperson Tim Griffin told 55News.

A fire was discovered at a strip mall nearby, and fire crews arrived to find heavy fire coming through the roof of the building.

Crews worked for an extended period to knock down the fire, pulling out of the building at one point after the ceiling collapsed.

A male victim was found dead inside the building.

The female victim was taken to Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis. One Carmel firefighter suffered minor injuries.

Griffin said it’s believed the fire started in a kitchen inside one of the businesses. A massage parlor and café sustained heavy damage in the fire.

Michigan Road is closed in both directions near West 98th Street.

GASTONIA, N.C. — A woman who was allegedly shooting in the parking lot of a Gastonia Walmart on Thursday was shot by police, officials said.

Gastonia Police responded to a crash outside the Walmart on East Franklin Boulevard around 7 a.m. The Gastonia Police Department said when officers arrived, they found a woman outside her car shooting in the parking lot. One of the officers shot the woman in the arm, officials said.

There are indications suggesting a possible involvement of law enforcement in the shooting. Officers reportedly discharged their firearms, injuring the suspect in the arm.

The suspect was subsequently transported via ambulance for medical treatment. Further details are being sought as the investigation progresses.

Man found shot outside hotel near Redondo Beach Pier

A man was found suffering from gunshot wounds outside a hotel near the Redondo Beach Pier, police said Wednesday.

Officers received a call at 11:17 p.m. Tuesday about shots fired at a hotel along South Pacific Coast Highway, Redondo Beach Police Lt. Michael Martinez said. They found the victim with gunshot wounds to his upper torso, Martinez said.

Paramedics rushed him to a nearby hospital and he was treated for injuries believed to be not life-threatening, Martinez said.

Aerial footage of the scene shows a police patrol vehicle parked in the driveway of the Redondo Pier Inn, which is about a half a mile away from the Redondo Beach Pier. An area outside the hotel was surrounded by police tape as several officers remained at the scene just after 6:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Authorities have not released any information about a possible suspect or motive.
