LANTANA, Fla. — In a devastating incident, a small plane crashed on Friday at Palm Beach County Park Airport in Lantana, resulting in the loss of two lives.

Shortly before 11:30 a.m., deputies from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the crash site, where they discovered two deceased individuals within the aircraft.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the aircraft involved in the crash was a single-engine Cessna 172.

Aerial footage captured by WPTV Chopper 5 depicted the severely damaged plane, which had been split in half, resting in a grassy area adjacent to a runway, not far from the Lake Osborne campground.

Authorities from the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will launch an investigation into the incident to determine the cause of the tragic wreck.

Palm Beach County Fire Rescue has not released any additional information at this time, stating only that they responded to an incident involving a small plane.

4 People Shot in Dale City Home; Police Search for Suspect

Limited information has been provided by the authorities, but an incident occurred on Friday afternoon where four individuals were shot inside a residence located on Birchdale Drive in Dale City. As of 3 p.m., the police had not yet made any arrests in connection with the incident.

On Friday, May 26, just before 2:30 p.m., the Prince William County police responded to reports of a shooting at a residence situated in the 14700 block of Birchdale Drive. Upon arrival, they discovered one person outside the house suffering from gunshot wounds. Subsequently, the police located three additional victims who were unconscious, as indicated by information exchanged on the police radio.

All four victims were shot within the confines of the Birchdale Drive residence. One of the victims sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen, according to the details shared on the police radio.

In relation to the shooting, the police issued a be-on-the-lookout alert for a Black male driving a black 2014 Ford SUV.

To facilitate the transportation of at least one victim to the hospital by helicopter, the police were preparing a landing zone. Additionally, several streets in the vicinity of the shooting, including Birchdale and Dale Avenue, were blocked off by the authorities.

Several individuals contacted emergency services to report the gunfire near the Villa Court apartment complex located at 11509 S. Villa Ct. Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered approximately 30 shell casings and shattered glass scattered across the parking lot. However, neither the perpetrator nor the victims were present.

Law enforcement officials conducted a thorough investigation and determined that an injured man and woman had independently driven themselves to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn to seek medical attention. Tragically, the woman was pronounced dead shortly after her arrival at the hospital, while the man underwent surgery to address his injuries.

It has been revealed that the victims are not residents of Alsip, indicating that the shooting was likely a targeted attack. Witnesses reported seeing a dark-colored sedan fleeing the scene, heading westbound on 115th Street.
