One Dead and Two Injured in Head-On Collision in Tazewell

Tazewell, VA – A fatal crash in Tazewell resulted in one death and two injuries earlier today. At approximately 8:28 a.m., a 2004 Buick Rendezvous SUV traveling east on Gratton Rd. crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a 2014 Chevrolet bus owned by the Clinch Valley Community Action – Head Start Program. The bus had only one juvenile passenger on board at the time of the incident.

Tragically, the driver of the Buick was pronounced dead at the scene. The bus driver sustained life-threatening injuries and has been transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The child passenger was also taken to Tazewell Community Hospital to receive medical attention for minor injuries.

The Virginia State Police Wytheville Division’s Crash Reconstruction Team and Motor Carrier Safety Team are currently on site, assisting with the ongoing investigation into the crash. Tazewell County Sheriff Brian Hieatt confirmed that the collision occurred between 8 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. on Friday at the intersection of Gratton Road and Bourne Road in Tazewell.

Emergency response teams from various rescue and fire departments, as well as the Virginia State Police and the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office, promptly arrived at the scene to provide assistance.

The Virginia State Police will lead the investigation into the incident. As of now, no further details regarding additional injuries or fatalities have been released.

Police Search for Suspects Involved in Shooting Incident in Bloomsburg

Bloomsburg, PA – Authorities are actively searching for two suspects following a shooting incident at a local Home Depot in Bloomsburg. The incident took place this morning, but no injuries have been reported thus far. Details regarding the incident remain limited.

The Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) in Stroudsburg have issued a BOLO (Be On the Lookout) alert for a Dark Blue Nissan bearing Pennsylvania license plate MDG2541. The suspects were last seen heading eastbound on I-80 near mile marker 232 at approximately 8:39 AM. 25-Year-Old Man Fatally Shot in El Paso, Police Investigating Possible Connection to Another Shooting

EL PASO, Texas – A 25-year-old man was shot and killed outside the Coralito Restaurant in the 2700 block of North Mesa and Baltimore early Friday morning. Police have confirmed that the victim succumbed to his injuries after being transported to a local hospital.

According to authorities, the incident occurred as the victim and another individual were leaving the PROFE Cantina and crossing the street. As they walked towards the parking lot in front of the Coralito Restaurant, the 25-year-old man was shot by an unidentified assailant.

In a separate but potentially related incident, another shooting took place at the corner of Mesa and Baltimore around the same time. Police have stated that both shootings happened in close proximity but are yet to confirm any connection between the two incidents.

The suspect responsible for the fatal shooting fled the scene, prompting a call to authorities at approximately 2:18 a.m. The investigation into the motive and circumstances surrounding the incident is currently underway.

Warrants have been issued for the arrest of a juvenile suspect believed to be responsible for an accidental shooting that took place at the North Point Mall carnival on Wednesday night.

The suspect is facing multiple criminal charges, including second-degree cruelty to children, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, two counts of reckless conduct, possession of a firearm by a person under the age of 18, and tampering with evidence. In coordination with the Champaign County Multi-Jurisdictional Investigative Team (CCMJIT), led by the Illinois State Police, the Rantoul Police are fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation.

The CCMJIT is actively conducting interviews, gathering evidence, and preparing reports. Once their portion of the investigation concludes, a comprehensive report will be submitted to the Champaign County State’s Attorney. Rantoul Police Chief Anthony Brown expressed support for the investigation, emphasizing the importance of promptly providing the public with a thorough account of the events.

Multiple Shots Fired in Decatur, Alabama; Woman Injured

Suspect Arrested in Connection to Peoria County Deputies’ Shooting

Peoria, IL – Qualin C. Lewis (DOB: 10/13/99) has been arrested in connection with the shooting incident targeting Peoria County Deputies on March 16, 2023. Following an extensive investigation, authorities obtained sufficient evidence to support probable cause for Lewis’ arrest. Peoria County Sheriff’s Investigators, Peoria Police Department, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) collaborated on the case and conducted surveillance on Lewis.

On June 7, 2023, law enforcement agencies apprehended Lewis in an apartment located in the 2800 block of Ann St at approximately 2:30 p.m. During the arrest, officers discovered a Draco AK-47 pistol in the apartment. Lewis now faces multiple charges, including two counts of Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, two counts of Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and a Department of Corrections Parole Warrant. Additional charges may be added later by the State’s Attorney.

The initial incident occurred in the early hours of March 16, 2023, when Peoria County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to a Shotspotter alert indicating four gunshots in the 2800 block of W. Ann St. Upon arrival, deputies encountered an armed black male wearing a hoodie, who immediately fired several shots at the officers. Thankfully, the deputies were unharmed. The suspect managed to flee the scene on foot and evaded capture. Two firearms, one of which was reported stolen from Chicago, were recovered, along with shell casings.
