Area police departments are seeking a person of interest in a shooting that occurred in an open area in the 500 block of North James in Centralia,
The search for 23-year-old Jonathon L. Hunt, no address available, is centered in the area around the intersection of State Route 161 and Route 37 where a car he is believed to be driving was located with no one around earlier this evening. He is described as 6 foot 2 weighing 150 pounds.
Marion County Sheriff Kevin Cripps says Hunt should be considered arm and dangerous. If you know of his whereabouts or spot suspicious activity, you should call 911 or contact your local law enforcement agency. Cripps says it is unknown if Hunt is still in the area the vehicle was found or if he may have left the area.
Police say the shooting occurred during an apparent domestic disturbance. The person injured was taken to a local hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Centralia Police have not released the name of the victim. The shooting occurred around seven Sunday evening. They first responded to a report of shots fired.
The suspect vehicle was towed to Centralia Police Department for investigation by Illinois State Police Crime Scene Investigations.
